The TMAM approach

Martial arts should make better humans – not just better kickers.

Students learn practical martial arts in a structured, supportive environment. The physical skills matter, but so do confidence, discipline, resilience, focus and consideration for other people.

Self-defence is a last resort. Staying aware, avoiding danger, keeping control and making good decisions always come first.

Confidence through progress Focus through good habits Fitness through purposeful training Control before conflict

Helpful answers

Questions before you try a class?

If your question is not covered here, call, email or send an enquiry. You will get a straightforward answer.

Ask Tom a question
Will martial arts make my child aggressive?

No. Responsible training should improve control, not aggression. Students learn that physical skills come with responsibility and that avoiding conflict is always the better outcome.

Does my child need to be confident before starting?

No. Some children arrive shy or unsure and others arrive full of energy. Instructors help each child take part at an appropriate level without embarrassing or singling them out.

Do beginners have to spar?

No one is thrown in at the deep end. Partner work and sparring are introduced carefully, supervised and controlled. Competition is optional.

Can parents watch?

Yes. Parents can watch beside the mats or use the downstairs seating area, where the class is shown on television.

Is there a long-term contract?

No. Memberships run monthly and can be cancelled with the notice set out in the membership agreement.

What should we bring to a taster?

Wear comfortable clothes that are easy to move in and bring a bottle of water. No uniform or specialist equipment is needed.
